Ciudad Agroalimentaria de Tudela Awards

Organised by the Ciudad Agroalimentaria de Tudela agri-food complex.

64 companies opt for the agri-food Quality Gold Medals.

A total of 40 Spanish manufacturers of delicatessen products and 24 winemakers from Navarre entered the competition.

The jury panel rated over a hundred wines and food products.

The Ciudad Agroalimentaria de Tudela agri-food complex gave the Quality Gold Medals Alimentaria to the best delicatessen product and the best Navarra Wine. The winners were the gazpacho made by Yemas de Santa Teresa and the white Palacio de la Vega Chardonnay 2006 by Bodegas Ambrosio Velasco, respectively.

The final wine shortlist included the red Mañeru Nature Crianza 2004 by Bodega Mañeru, the Jardín de Luculo 2006 100% Garnacha white by Bodegas Luculo, the Seis de Azul y Garanza 2006 by Bodegas Azul y Garanza, and the Finca Manzanos 2005 Crianza red by Bodegas Fernández Manzanas.

The five finalists opting for the Quality Gold Medals in the food product category awarded by the Ciudad Agroalimentaria de Tudela were: Iberian Pork Cheeks in Sauce by Horno Artesano, the Deluxe Pesto and Sprout Salad by Florette, the Gazpacho by Yemas de Santa Teresa and the Pocha Beans with Vegetables by Impex Medrano.

A total of 40 companies from across Spain and 24 bodegas from Navarre participated in the second Quality Gold Medals competition organised by the Ciudad Agroalimentaria de Tudela agri-food complex.

The medals awarded by Ciudad Agroalimentaria de Tudela seek to disseminate and promote food quality.

Each contestant participated with a maximum of two food products or one wine - in the case of the Navarrese wineries.

The delicatessen products jury panel consisted of Rafael García Santos (director of the Congress), Fernando San Martín (Punto Radio), Xavier Agulló (El Mundo), Giorgio Griliatti and Gil Griliatti (La Repubblica, Italy), José Antonio Cruz (Entrevinos), Juan Pedro del Romero (Vice-president of the Navarre Academy of Gastronomy), José Uranga (restaurateur), July Ocáriz and Carlos Loizu (Sociedad Gazteluleku) and Javier Molinos (gourmet).

In addition to the food producers, over twenty bodegas from Navarre also submitted wines to compete for the Quality Gold Medal for best wine in our region.
